About Us

SJ Tropical Birds was founded by Sean and Julie, a team who have bred and hand-reared parrots together for the past fourteen years.

Previously before that, Sean started breeding Ornamental Ducks, Cockatiels and Budgies from the age of twelve, moving on to Red-rumped Parrakeets & Bourkes Parrakeets which proved successful, then purchased a colony of 10 pairs of Lutino Lovebirds  which again bred successfully.

From then a range of other animals were purchased, some of which were bred, including: Chipmonks, Chinchillas, Cotton-eared Marmoset, Chilli-rose Tarantula, Green Iguana, Bearded Dragon, Kakariki, Sun Conures, Timneh Greys, Black-necked Aracari (Toucan), Greater-Hill Mynah.

Patagonian Conure, Petz Conure, Rainbow Lorikeet, Massena Lorikeet, Pennants Parrakeet, Mealy Rosella, Golden-Mantled Rosella, Yellow Naped Amazon, Hahns Macaw, Indian Ringneck, Pileated Parakeet and Chattering Lory.

The extensive variety of birds and animals proved to be useful experience later on when the main focus became the parrot species which we have now bred successfully for the past fourteen years. Our breeding pairs include:-
